Do you think there is an emergency at home? CALL 911 Now!

There are few things in life so important as keeping your family and home safe from the dangers of fire.

Do you know your 911 address (the blue signs). The 911 dispatchers don't know the "old" road names or "old" number systems, so make sure you, and everyone in your family, know the proper address of your home/cottage?

Does your home/cottage have the following?

  • Smoke Detector
  • Carbon Monoxide Detector
  • Fire Extinguisher
  • Planned escape route

When did you last check any or all of these? If you have children it is essential that you regularly practice escape routes. Your home becomes a maze of obstacles when it is dark and filled with smoke.

The mission of the Ontario Fire Marshal (OFM) is to contribute to an environment for the residents of Ontario that is safe from fire and other public safety hazards by providing leadership and expertise in the reduction and elimination of these hazards.

The following is just a brief list of some of the information they have posted on their website (www.ofm.gov.on.ca):

The Ministry of Natural Resources provides information about keeping your property safe. Check out BE FIRE SMART for more.

If you still have any questions about fire safety in your home or on your property please do not hesitate to contact us.
